    I love the Lufthansa advertisements that say “All for this one moment”

    I realised how lovely that feeling is on Monday evening.
    Ajay and his roomie Aditya came to Mumbai on Monday as Aditya had to pick up his laptop and Ajay his clothes and other paraphernalia. I had a heavy workload that Monday and so could not take the day off to be with him (yup I sure got a lecture about how I should have gone from my friends) also he was going to be running all over the city so it was pointless to lug one more person along. I was really upset by the fact that it might not have been possible to see him. However they very thoughtfully stopped at Ghansoli on their way to Pune. That is where I got my huggie and a few moments (and my recharge till the next time I see him)

    So for all the hours of traveling we both did in that day to reach Ghansoli …… that one moment made it all worth it:)

    Dharavi Calling

    Sunday the 27 June 2007 saw a group of friends battle the rain to see a person who over the last 2 years has come to mean so much to them.

    It was a special day for John on Sunday as he was being inducted as parish priest of St. Anthony’s Church – Dharavi. We had planned to make it for mass and then have lunch with him. However the rains decided to play spoilsport and in the morning we were wondering if it was such a smart idea to attempt to go to Dharavi in the pouring rains.

    However since we really wanted to be there we made the effort. Bosco however decided that we needed a tour of Dharavi (he was our guide for the morning) and it resulted in us walking around the area for a good 15 minutes before we reached Church (we had already walked pass the lane leading to church by this time!)

    The service was nice and the church was full. We also managed to get most of the mass.

    Then came the part where we had to walk through a cleaner part of Dharavi (or so we were told) to the apartment where the priests reside. By this time most of us were soaking wet. However the time we spent in the afternoon made it all worth while.

    After a good lunch of Chicken Biriyani (thanx Aunty Violet for feeding me) we headed home.

    Dinner for 3

    Got up feeling terribly sleepy as I had a rough night. It was the youth group’s turn to do the liturgy at the 8.30 mass and since I had committed to doing a reading I had to be there. Fr. Denzil preached a long winding sermon and I lost track of what he was saying 3 minutes into the sermon. We met for an informal meeting after the mass to draw up a plan of what we wanted to do during the next 6 months.
    Came home to a light breakfast and managed to catch up with some blogging and reading. Also managed to watch an episode of CSI – Las Vegas. Caught a few winks after lunch.

    I had plans to meet an old friend for dinner. Fish was the demand of the hour so we went to Amrut Punjab in Parel for some good fishy dinner. Ruth felt like some good food too so came along. Conversation ranged from the Jesuits, to Xavier’s to the church. We stuck to dishes I had experimented with as I did not want there to be any surprises.

    I had a nice evening. The food was good and the company was warm.

    Happy Birthday Aunty June

    The 1st of June saw a lovely lady turn 50. Had a lovely time as usual at Andheri. Went out and out from work and decided to stay the night. Ruth met me there. Caught up with a lot of people I hadn’t met in ages. Met the scrabble champ – apart from being a wizard at the game he also has a fine sense of humor and a good taste in music. Then there was the cake making expert. Nicole made the birthday cake and boy did it look good! A real professional job -thought taste wise it would score 4 out of 10 in my books.

    Spent a major part of the evening taking Crispin’s case as usual. We’ve been friends all our lives – yup from the time we were tiny. It’s the kind of friendship that doesn’t need you to spend hours on the phone or go out a lot but when you meet it could easily be classified as some of the funest times! I can’t remember a single boring time.

    Sunday the 3rd of July, 2007 was a day of mixed emotions. While I was over the moon because it was our first anniversary, I was also really sad as we were in two different cities instead of being together.

    Thank you darling for a whole year (and those before that :) ) You mean the world to me.
