The Namesake

With the exams finally over and done with I decided to have a threesome date with Ajay and Ruth. We agreed on the Namesake which was running in town. After he picked me up from Dadar, I grabbed a quick bite before we sat to do some blog work. Left for the movie by bus to Churchgate and then took a cab (we’re convinced the cabbie’s meter was tripping) to Regal. Was hoping the movie was not a disappointment like The Mistress of Spices to which I went to after my final exams last year. We reached just in time, bought the tickets and popcorn and were pleasantly surprised to find that the movie actually started on time (movies starting late at Regal are legendary) This time I was not disappointed. Its amazing how even today so many people go to the USA in search of their American Dream and hope that it comes true. I have never ever been fascinated by the United States. And for the record have NO interest in migrating to that part of the world.

The movie got over by around 9.15 p.m. and then we headed to a place Ruth nicknamed the “Cheap Chinese Place” which is at Colaba Causeway. I’m sure the eatery has a name but neither of us have bothered to find out what it is! Ajay was concerned about whether he would fall ill or not (this was before he saw the prices at the place, once he saw that they were not chinese cart prices he felt much better) We ordered the triple Schezwan Rice, Chinese Chopsuey and Chicken Wings in Chilly Garlic Sauce along with some fizzies.

It was getting late so we took a cab to C.S.T. (this time the driver said he drove so fast that the fare was cheaper than usual!) and Ajay had his first experience traveling by Central Railway trains. Thankfully the train was relatively empty or I might not have heard the end of it. Came home and crashed. Day one of the holidays was over
